weekending

weekending. my favorite part of the week. a time to relax, live, love, just be. if you’d like to share your weekend either with words, photographs, or both, leave a link to your weekend post or flickr photo in the comments.
+++++

this weekend was
sesame bagel, lox, cream cheese, hot coffee
pjs, handknit socks, grey, stormy day
perfect way to start a five day weekend*
a yard mostly under water
the mr. napping on the sofa
kids piled on top watching a movie
popcorn and painting
thinking i should start thinking about the taxes
commending myself for even thinking of them then
promptly pushing them out of my mind
looking through knitting patterns hoping a project catches my eye
enjoying every smile and coo my lil girl flashes my way
pizza delivered and enjoyed with ice cold beer
and today there is already one child drawing with pastels
another built an elaborate train track in the living room floor
others are watching a favorite movie
i’m thinking it’s time for another cuppa while
i enjoy a crossword

how was your weekend?

Taxes? Oh, we have time, it’s not even March yet! :) We are getting the rain today and it’s so nice! Enjoy your beautiful family and the long weekend. We are taking tomorrow off so at least I have three days.

I love Kiki’s Delivery Service….so cool your kiddos love it too. Sound like a relaxing weekend. I’ve been thinking about taxes too. I say the earlier the better as the closer it gets to the date the less time you have to scrutinize and evaluate records/receipts etc. Good luck.

ManiseFebruary 19, 2012 - 1:45 pm

I’m lucky that my dear Mister does the taxes in our house. He’s already made the piles of paperwork and awaiting forms.
I have visions of your kiddos in wellies splashing in all that water in your yard. What fun!
The knitting project in question? Our answer will be soon I think. :-)

Spent part of the day at a local Winter Farmers Market yesterday- it was Fiber Day. Sat with one of my favorite shepherds enabling her customers to buy yarn and sharing pattern info. Lots of fun.

Your pizza delivery evening reminded me how long it’s been. Unfortunately we don’t have a nice one locally, but luckily my husband is working somewhere that does tomorrow, so it’s on the menu! Yay. :)

I commend you indeed, I don’t even want to think about taxes! I picked up the latest debbie bliss mag, there’s a few pretty things in there!

Another lovely weekend, Amanda. I haven’t dug into a crossword in ages, but it sounds like very welcome mental exercise. :) Hope that your upcoming week (and your 5 day weekend!) is full of much fun!

Why ‘ruin’ a beautiful weekend with even mentioning taxes? :) Thanks for reminding me as I have our stuff almost ready to send off to our tax guy and really need to gather a few more things for it. Your kids are off for Mardi Gras? Only in LA! I don’t even let my kids have President’s Day off…

AngelaFebruary 20, 2012 - 8:39 am

Taxes smaxes. Your weekend sounds glorious. Go have some more coffee. I am going to try to make some gumbo-keep me in your thoughts please. ;)

the bit with the pj’s and handknit socks sounds devine to me! we had a little getaway, spencer stayed with my parents and we went off to the countryside to stay in an adorable little cottage. lots of scrabble playing and knitting!

BobbiFebruary 20, 2012 - 10:25 am

cold, cold and more cold. lots of work on the book but long a.m. lounging with le monsieur makes up for it. i miss bagels.

delFebruary 20, 2012 - 12:55 pm

Your weekend sounds perfectly snuggable.

JessicaFebruary 20, 2012 - 1:10 pm

Oh, not taxes! We did ours a few weeks ago….it’s not all it’s cracked up to be, trust me.

We’re enjoying an extralong weekend…including tomorrow!

What feels like a lifetime ago (but is actually only three years ago), taxes were a big part of my life (I am a former accountant who worked in public accounting…ugh!).

Now I take my time doing our taxes and those of the family and friends I help with theirs. :-)

Sounds like a really relaxing weekend. Lucky ducks for the five day weekend!

A train track on your living room floor…we have a configuration of one kind or another on ours every day. Our young one enjoys his trains most of all. You having one to step over too made me smile. -heather

Pizza and beer sounds a little bit like heaven to me.
