weekending

weekending. my favorite part of the week. a time to relax, live, love, just be. if you’d like to share your weekend either with words, photographs, or both, leave a link to your weekend post or flickr photo in the comments.
+++++

this weekend was stacking rocks
watching them fall
stacking (again)
watching them fall (again)
so i threw in the towel
rode the wave*
i think we’re all better for riding the waves on occasion
it was a grey, rainy saturday that called for bagels out
rather than the intended trip to the farmer’s market
a baby out of sorts that needed to be held
i sought solace on the sofa
in the pages of magazines that had been piling up
watched this with the kids
we all had a good laugh towards the end when the nacho
stood on the sofa screaming, “mean guy! mean guy!”
kids lounging around, noses in books
legos underfoot, laundry piled high
this morning we’ve been out blowing bubbles
swinging and running
currently enjoying a prairie home companion
if you’re a gillian welch fan, this is worth a listen

how was your weekend?

* speaking of riding waves, i now have this song stuck in my head

+++++
thanks to all of you who let me know how the blog was showing up for you. it seems the vast majority of you are having no problems at all – yay! sadly, the handful of you using safari and explorer are having problems – boo. i’m hoping to do a blog makeover sometime in the next few weeks and i have my fingers crossed that it fixes things for those of you using safari or explorer.

love garrison keller! have you seen the movie of PHC?
and the goonies are TOTALLY in my top 10 all-time movies, like ever.

christinaJuly 22, 2012 - 11:58 am

ahh the goonies, such fond memories of watching it with my brother and cousins :)
Lots of grey skies here this past week as well. But it also means slightly cooler weather, which is nice.
gillian welch rocks my world. I got to see her last week in a small venue, so good.

DebbieJuly 22, 2012 - 12:01 pm

I love Garrison Keilor as well. I’ve read several of his books about Lake Wobegon and they always make me smile. Rainy weekends are kind of a nice change during a hot, dry summer, aren’t they? My weekend was DUSTY, but like you we watched a good movie. Ours wasn’t funny though. Enjoy the coming week.

AmandaJuly 22, 2012 - 12:26 pm

yes, sometimes it’s easier to just ride the wave.

LOVE Goonies!!

this weekend was quiet and mellow, enjoying a new children’s yoga dvd. :)

TraceyJuly 22, 2012 - 1:31 pm

Just to relax and ride the wave is on my list for later this week. Today I am throwing my first ever birthday surprise party so I am a little nervous.

Oh yes, riding the wave, what a wonderful expression for certain situations ;-)
I love rocks!
This weekend the sun showed up here for a change so we dried up a little.

I think that riding the wave definitely describes what we’ve been doing too. There’s a lot of learning going on right now… that’s for sure…

I love my bagels toasted and then smeared with peanut butter. Don’t think I’ve ever watched the goonies.

This was a slow weekend for me.

I have a deep abiding love for pictures of stones. This one is exquisite.

The extraordinary ordinary joys of car cleaning and grocery shopping, and new book loving, are what my weekend was about.

Riding the wave can be tricky, but usually has the best results.

Courtney {A Life Sustained}July 23, 2012 - 7:38 am

It’s a running joke in our house that I didn’t see Goonies until I was in my 20s. Growing up in a town with no movie theater, no movie rental and a house with no cable, it just didn’t happen. I totally missed out on this (and most other) 80s icons.

I’m diggin’ the new blog look. :)

I didn’t even have to listen to the song….as soon as I clicked on the link and saw the title it was in my head…too funny. Sounds like a wonderful weekend, We watched the same movie with the kids recently, they loved it, still holds up pretty well:)

Spent the weekend in shock with the rest of Colorado. But it made me take extra effort to focus on my children and taking time to really enjoy what I have.

Baby by the SeaJuly 23, 2012 - 11:23 am

Love Goonies, and you must know it’s filmed in Astoria, Or. There really are underground pathways that my hubby got to explore with an old pal. Next to the birth of our babes and marrying me, it’s up there with best experience of his life. I just adore those weekend days spent on the sofa, flipping through magazines but the ones where you babe needs to be on you, I get that that. I had a weekend just like that, too. And, your blog work better (I have Safari) after I upgraded my flash player and operating system…
xoxo

michelle gdJuly 23, 2012 - 12:48 pm

Sounds like a perfectly cozy weekend to me….making the most of a rainy day and a crabby babe. The Goonies sounds like a perfect way to occupy a couple hour stretch of that!

NicoleJuly 24, 2012 - 10:22 pm

I’m enjoying your beautiful photographs. And it’s a funny coincidence, we have the same blog name! :)
