weekending

weekending. my favorite part of the week. a time to relax, live, love, just be. if you’d like to share your weekend either with words, photographs, or both, leave a link to your weekend post or flickr photo in the comments.
+++++

this weekend has been full of things, lots of things
mostly productive
working on layout whilst trying not to
fall out laughing at the things being said in the next room
the littles have no idea just how funny they are
there is more, so much more
a certain 4yo is covered in red ink *ahem*
mama shouldn’t have just nodded her head when he asked
oh so politely, “may i borrow your red pen for two hours?”
the two hours bit set me to giggling
i have been looking at this monitor all day and i really
just want to tuck into a cowboy burger and sweet potato fries, an iced cold beer
so i’m off to do just that
good night sweet friends

how was your weekend?

karenDecember 9, 2012 - 4:59 pm

So I guess a cowboy burger is a big burger? I love sweet potato fries myself, haven’t had them in a while. love hearing about your kids, my son will be home on Wednesday and I can’t wait! Enjoy your dinner!

Now you have me wanting a burger!

You know, depending on what I was doing at the time, I might not even have noticed a child asking to borrow a red pen for “two hours.” lol

debbyDecember 9, 2012 - 5:24 pm

mmm…love sweet potato chips…that cool beer sounds good too…

A burger and fries with a cold glass of beer sounds perfect right now! I love the “two hours.” Such planning! Have a great week.

I spent the weekend with a four year old too and I must say I think it’s really a wonderful age!
I am curious, what is a cowboy burger?

I love the look/feel of Kindred so far. It’s such a peaceful space. Now you have me wanting a burger and an ice cold beer too. :)

Kids DO say the darndest things, don’t they?
My 4 year old is going around singing….

“Have a Harley Jarley Christmas, it’s the best day of the year.”
LOL!

stephDecember 9, 2012 - 8:15 pm

kids really do say the darndest things….took the grands out to dinner tonight, and the water was delivered in mason jars….the 7 year old wanted to know if that was moonshine?????? (where in the world did THAT come from?) that cowboy burger and sweet potato fries combo sounds much better than my ‘moonshine’!

S/V Mari Hal-O-JenDecember 9, 2012 - 8:19 pm

Sweet potato fries are just the best, aren’t they? And I have to second (third?) the question – what makes a cowboy burger, a cowboy burger? BBQ sauce?

I love the word whilst. And sweet potato fries. But not in that order…

Aren’t kids funny?!?

Playing along this week,

No doubt your long hours at the monitor will pay off. I can’t wait to see the Kindred in all it’s layout glory.
Sounds like you’ve got a editor on your hands, or should I say on his hands.
What’s a cowboy burger? One with bacon and bbq I’m betting..
xoxo
Have a wonderful week

ReneeDecember 10, 2012 - 1:29 am

Kindred looks lovely.

Like many other commenters here, I am now wishing for a burger and sweet potato fries!

Enjoy the week ahead :)

JenDecember 10, 2012 - 7:57 am

Oh the burger fries & beer sound delicious! I love the yarn and your socks in the top photo! We had a mix of relaxing & busy this weekend! http://ihappyree.blogspot.com/2012/12/weekending_10.html

One of my favorite things is listening to the bits of wisdom and hilarity that escape from the mouths of my kiddos. Love that you were able to do that. And a red pen for two hours. too funny. Congrats on your zine. So sad I missed the deadline. I had been writing such eloquent pieces in my head for the past few months. Just forgot to write it all down. next time.

Courtney {A Life Sustained}December 10, 2012 - 8:44 am

I’m so excited to see the first issue of Kindred! I have no doubt that it will be something truly special. The “two hours” line would have elicited giggles from me as well. Even for not being very verbal, Silas has figured out how to get laughs from us. It’s pretty wonderful.

I am craving red meat so bad.
Like, go to the store and buy some, kind of bad.
And I really don’t buy meat from the store.

KCDecember 10, 2012 - 10:25 am

Our weekend was chill. So much so that I don’t really remember having done anything. But I did make good food. There is always good food in the weekend.

How was the burger?

MJDecember 10, 2012 - 10:52 am

The hubs and I were just talking about the things kids say. And the red ink!!! Oh my that must have been a wonderful laugh :) . Hope you had good decompression time yesterday, you deserve it!!

Heh, I remember the fallout of responding to my girls while distracted. And don’t think they don’t learn early on just when to ask a question to get the response they want. ;)

Love the 2-hour specificity. Adorable.

It was an interesting weekend filled with the learning linked to a 2-day workshop, but I missed the usual lazy quiet time. Soon.

KimDecember 10, 2012 - 3:07 pm

Overhearing little ones is hilarious, the things they say just crack me up!!!
