weekending. my favorite part of the week. a time to relax, live, love, just be. if you’d like to share your weekend either with words, photographs, or both, leave a link to your weekend post or flickr photo in the comments, or post it on the fb page.

two glimpses from my weekend:
:: i spent saturday afternoon reading while a sweetly sleeping and congested wee lass slumbered and cooed on my chest. bending down to kiss the top of her head i inhaled the scent of baby girl – all pink and fluffy like cotton candy, smelling of contentment and magic. i made a mental note to track this, this scent of her babyhood, to notice it, to beware of its absence (because that day is coming).
:: early saturday evening in line at whole foods with bottles of wine, reggiano, strawberries, and staring googly-eyed at the man in front of me, the one that sounded very much like woody allen. i wanted to waylay him for a bit, bring him home to be one of that night’s guests around the table. i chickened out but it was fun telling the guests about him, about his mannerisms, wondering if he’d cultivated this semblance or if it was just him.
how was your weekend?
ps: february link love is up —————>

I remember ‘that’ smell so very well, soak it all in Amanda and hold it close. I hope your wee little lass is feeling better.

oh that smell, yes i know exactly what you mean. i had a good weekend, it was quiet, and tonight we decided to open another bottle of wine
need to get back to my glass
I wonder why we do that? My friend brought her baby to the last knitting group and that was the first thing I did when I held him, inhaled his pretty head. I think it’s a secret time machine that brings back the sweetest moments for me.
have fun tonight and maybe it WAS Woody Allen???

Enjoy it as long as you can!
Wine and strawberries sounds like a great evening
We’ve spent most of our weekend outdoors.

oh, wonderful baby smell…

have a wonderful week!
What a beautiful little shaped head your baby girl has. What a sweet profile, and I do hope she gets better soon. It’s no fun having a sick little one. It always made me so sad when my kids would get sick—our son is just getting over a nasty cold of his own.

oh, yes, that sweet baby smell! hope your wee lass is feeling better.
Woody Allen would be a super guest to have for dinner. How cool! And yes, I know about that baby girl smell too. I can still smell in on my 7-year-old, sometimes…
Hope you are having a wonderful weekend. I spent mine at Yarn Camp.

Oh I found myself doing that to Ree this weekend too. It’s not as baby-like smell anymore but I find myself sniffing her sweet head when she snuggles up to me. I hope your wee lass is feeling better!

Oh…I have a bit of a soft spot for Woody Allen too.
I bumped almost physically into Helena Bonham Carter in Waitrose store a while ago, I didn’t know whether she didn’t want to be recognised or if I should go up to her say, ‘I love your work and your quirky dress style’. Instead I shyly looked down walked around the next aisle and almost bumped into her partner Tim Burton about six foot tall spiky hair all dressed black and converse sneakers.
SInce then I prepare what I’ll say if I do see her…but I’ve never seen her since…
I love and miss that baby smell too. I wonder if I go and sniff Hannah’s old baby clothes in the loft they still have that perfect scent. I hope your little one is soon back to normal.
This was a bit of my weekend:

Ohhhhh – I do the sniffing and smelling (a lot!) to my daughter too – she is now 17 months old…time really does fly…

If I close my eyes I can still summon that smell…and my son is 21. Lovely baby days.

Aw, the smell.. A lot of baby smelling going on here, too.
We had a loud Saturday, a quiet Sunday. A bit of everything.

I always take a deep inhale when I give my daughter a hug. Some days she still smells faintly of lavendar from the night before. Other days she smells stongly of the missed spot of maple syrup from breakfast!
Our weekend was at the park…

Have a great week!
My husband and I play that game—-who does that look like (giving them a yarnharlot-type kaneering glance); once when I was playing, hubby looked up and gave a WHOOOOAA….that really IS Elliot Gould!!
He probably wanted to invite you to dinner for some conversation too. I think you could hold your own.
“the scent of her babyhood” – too beautiful, and I know exactly what you mean…

What a pretty little lass… I love baby snuggles at that age. At any age, really. Hope she’s feeling better. P.S. I love Woody Allen. What fun to imagine the possibilities.
My weekend… http://edegraw.me/life/weekending-cupcakes/

I love baby smell and I miss it on my school aged ‘babies’.
I would have invited “Woody Allen” for dinner– so awesome that you had that idea!

Oh the sweet smell of babies, I wish I could bottle it. I had a session with a newborn this weekend and my womb was aching ;o)
I got my copy of kindred and I can’t wait for naptime to enjoy it with a nice warm tea. Thank you my friend
Oh that baby smell. I love and miss it so much. I have to borrow other people’s babies to get my fix.
Our weekend was very good. Filled with so much sleep! Both girls napping at the same time and me knitting for hours due to double naps!
I’m eating up all the book and journal-y goodness in the love links this month!
it’s the neck for me. that spot just where the chubby cheek meets the ear and soft curls end. and it kept me intoxicated, i think it still does even thinking about it. baby love.
thank you for the love ———>

Here’s a peek at my weekend: http://www.shetoldstories.com/2013/02/weekending.html
Oohhhh I know what you mean about seeing someone spectacular and wanting to spend more time with them!! Last week in fact, a beautiful African woman was standing next to me at the fish counter and everything about her, her energy, her gorgeous traditional clothing, her smile, her accent!!! She just started talking about fish and I could have stood there all day long, smelling fish and listening to her speak.
…
How I would have loved to see your Woody Allen
Love all your travel book and planner making links!!!
xoxo

Ha, those are some fun glimpses of your weekend. What an interesting sighting. I do wish my little baby still had that baby smell-how fleeting it is.
So late this weekend, but in the chaos of these weeks before our move, I decided late was better than not writing at all. Thankful for this chance to pause and reflect.

oh how i miss those sweet baby smells! such a sweet and beautiful photo too.
I too LOVE, love, love Wendell Berry~ getting ready to cover a small wall with sharpie-scribbled favorite quotes and trying to narrow down the ones from him so it’s not solely a wendell berry wall. but of course that wouldn’t be so bad either.
this photo of her little upswept curl, i remember those. ; ) so sweet.
